My name is Martin George Roughan nee Reed; I was born in Salford 1956.

My father John Edward Roughan, who died when I was six years old so my memory of him is very vague.

My mother re-married shortly afterwards and I took the name Reed from my stepfather.

My wife gave me a photograph album last year which she had put together for my fiftieth birthday. In it was a picture of my grandfather in Yeoman of the Guard Uniform that I had never seen before; I decided to find out more.

This web site is just a fragment of what I have discovered via the internet and various contacts I have made.

The Roughan family were presented with a total of twenty seven medals including the Afghan War, the Boer War and the Great War as well as campaigns in India, Egypt and Ireland.
